"Venue Choices"

Hi there,

Just an update on what's going on with PMX.

We've been wrangling with the Long Beach Convention Center for a few months trying to find dates that work for PMX in 06. We've decided to venture on to a new city since we haven't had any progress and time is growing short.

Do fans have a preference between LAX, Burbank and going back to Anaheim?

Mike

Anaheim is a very nice location in the sense that there's near infinite hotel space *and* options for food. LAX, OTOH, has the major advantage that surface transportation is effectively unnecessary for people flying in from the airport. I might recommend that as a first choice solely on the theory that anything making it easier to increase attendance at this point is a plus.

I'd say go with the venue that gives the best facilities for the concerts and CosFest. Get some place that you can fit a decent-sized stage with good stage lighting and fit in a decent-sized audience.

Anaheim is nice and most of us a familiar with the location, but the last time PMX was there, everything was really spread out and it seemed like a ghost town. If you go to Anaheim, find a better way to use the space. Also, when PMX was there last time, the concert room was great, but the room used for CosFest was horrible. Another negative aspect about Anaheim is that with PMX's smaller attendance, it's easy for attendees to opt for cheaper hotels, which is bad for the convention if PMX can't sell enough rooms at its official hotel.

At Burbank Convention Center, the food situation is really bad. There aren't many places within walking distance and I can see that as being a really major complaint.

LAX is decent, but there are few outdoor places for people to hang out and gather. I for one, am not too fond of "indoor" cons.

I would really much prefer Long Beach as the location, but since you can't get that, Anaheim is my second pick. Burbank would be alright too I suppose, but I'm not familiar with it at all. LAX = ewwww.

That's really a shame about Long Beach. My second choice would be Anaheim, but in all honesty, if it's not going to be in Long Beach I probably won't be as likely to go (unless there ends up being a particular major event at the con that I desperately want to see, like a Buck-Tick or Pierrot concert).

I would prefer to go back to Anaheim if Long Beach doesn't work out. I think LAX is either be too crowded or nothing much around the area. Not sure about Burbank because I've never been there.

Ouch. I would have preferred that PMX stay at Long Beach, but Anaheim is okay.

I don’t mind where it is, as long as it is easy to get to. I just hope that it is on the first weekend of September so that it will fit in with my travel plans.

From what I've heard so far, PMX2006 will be in October.

ANAHEIM. Hands down.

The only thing I know about LAX is that traffic in the area tends to be clogged, from my experience passing through it - otherwise, I'm unfamiliar with the area. I'm unfamiliar with Burbank as well. But, I'd be willing to try a new place if Anaheim doesn't work out. (I'm just glad it won't be in Long Beach again, huzzah T_T)

I would have to say ANaheim is a better choice, since it's the location for AX, which would make it an easy location. Along with that, the first PMX was also held at Anaheim.
